Over the years there have been many attempts by the school to engage with other colleges and universities from within the country and around the world. These have so far included some premier institutes from the United States and Europe. Recently however we have realized that while these exchanges helped us situate ourselves within a larger disciplinary debate, questions from within, posed along with institutions sharing similarities of context and history were lacking. With this in mind we have consciously extended our exchange programmes to local premier institutions within India and in Asia. While in the nascent stages of the programme we were more adhoc about the exchanges we established, we are now more conscious and in a position to make choices based on academic relevance of the programmes. Some of these exchange programmes are workshop based, others are semester long programmes where students get exposed to regular courses within the host institution. We have also explored joint-studio formats with some institutions. Recently we have extended our programme to include Masters’ student exchanges.
List of institutions we currently have exchange programmes with
Bergen Architecture School, Bergen, Norway – Third Year Exchange (Workshop based exchange)
Bern University, Bern, Switzerland – Fifth Year Exchange (Workshop + Internship)
Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, Guangzhou, China – Third Year Exchange (Workshop based exchange)
Tunghai University, Tunghai, Taiwan – Fourth Year and M.Arch Exchange (Semester Exchange)
