Aneerudha Paul - Director

Aneerudha is an Urban Designer who has studied for his B. Arch at the University of Calcutta , and MArch in Urban Design at the School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi . He has been the coordinator of the Research and Design Cell, KRVIA for the Mill Lands Project and the Eastern Waterfronts projects. He also led the project team for Mumbai at the Century Cities Exhibition at the Tate Modern, London , 2001. He has been teaching at KRVIA since 1993, and has been instrumental in formulating the Urban Studies, Environmental Design and Theory of Design progammes courses there. He has presented papers on urbanism and pedagogy at various locations including Mumbai, Calcutta , Delhi , London , Rotterdam , Chicago , Hong Kong and Canberra.

Manoj Parmar - Dean Master of Architecture.                                                         dean.march@krvia.ac.in

Manoj Parmar holds a Bachelor and G.D. Arch degree from the L.S.R school of Architecture, 1986. He also holds M.Arch from the University of Miami, Fl. He has been teaching at KRVIA since 1992. His academic interests include theoretical writing on Architecture and Urbanism. He has also been in private practice of interior, architecture, urban design and project management since 1992. He has worked on numerous private and public housing/ institutional commissions across the country. He has been actively involved in re-development projects across the city of Mumbai.  His key projects are also executed in Dubai, Malaysia and Singapore. He has been part of Urban Design Team for tourism development plan guidelines for Baticulao, Srilanka & Development guidelines for Slum redevelopment in Northern Suburb of Mumbai He has presented his work at young architect’s forum at UDRI & CEPT University. He currently engages in elective on architectural criticism and Thesis at undergraduate level and Housing studio and Thesis at postgraduate level.

Ainsley Lewis - Dean Bachelor of Architecture.                                                        dean.barch@krvia.ac.in 

Ainsley Lewis completed his B’Arch in the year 1995 and is a double gold medalist from the Center for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT), Ahmedabad. In 1992 he also has to his credit a scholarship to study at ETH, (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) Zurich. In 2012 he was awarded the best student award for his Masters in Urban Design from Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture and Environmental Studies. His post Graduate thesis focused on Participatory approach for Slum Re - habilitation schemes.

He established an architectural practice in 1997- 98. His office Urban Interventions has an eclectic mix of projects from Urban Design, Architecture, Architectural Conservation and Interior design. His office has won several awards for architecture and interior design. To name a few awards he has won, Young Designers award form Indian Architect and Builder; Spectrum Architecture and Design award; Jindal Steel award; “Interiors-Public Institutional Project of the Year 2012” Aces of Spaces Award 2012, Architect and Interiors India; TATA STEEL and Indian Architect and Builder (2007); Indian Institute of Interior Design Regional Winner Award for Public and Social Spaces in West 1: Mumbai And Thane region. (Feb 2013). His projects and his articles have featured in several architectural journals.

Ainsley has been involved with the institute since 1997-98. He teaches both design and technology courses in the undergraduate program and strives to seamless shift from one domain to the other. In the first year he teaches Architectural building construction and at the third year, Architectural design & Working drawings. He is not only the year master for the fifth year but also the design dissertation co-ordinator.  In the Post Graduate masters program he guides students for their master’s thesis. He has been the jury member to several architectural institutes in the city.

Rohan Shivkumar - Dean Research & Academic Development                                             dean.research@krvia.ac.in

Rohan is a practicing Architect and has studied at L.S. Raheja College of Architecture, Mumbai for his GD Arch. and at the University of Maryland , USA for his Masters in Regional and International Studies in Architecture. He has worked as Project coordinator for the Churchgate Revival project and the Tourist District project with the UDRI and studies concerning Slum Rehabilitation and open space regulations with groups concerned with development in Mumbai. He was part of the Heritage Listing project with the UDRI, a project by the heritage committee of the MMR-HCS. He has written for A+D, IAB and Art India magazines, and is currently also coordinator of the Research and Design Cell of the KRVIA. He has been teaching since 1997, and is involved in the Design and Theory of Design courses in KRVIA. He also conducts an elective based on Architectural Theory at KRVIA.

Pinkish Shah - Dean Academic Affairs                                                       dean.academics@krvia.ac.in

Pinkish Shah is co-Founding Partner and Design Principal of S+PS Architects which was founded in 1997.

He is an alumnus of the Sir J. J. College of Architecture, Gold Medalist from the University of Bombay, winner of the 1991 V.S. Gore Memorial Gold Medal for the best final year Design, the IIA-Milind Vaity Prize & the IIA- Claude Batley Memorial Prize from the University of Bombay. He has also been the Secretary of the Host College at the Annual Convention of the National Association of Students of Architecture in 1989-90. He has completed his Master of Architecture Degree with distinction from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, USA, with an emphasis on Urban Design. Pinkish has been the recipient of the 1996 Heimriech Award for the Best Sixth Year Graduate Student and has also been a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the School of Architecture, UNM, Albuquerque, U.S.A. Pinkish has also attended the Post–Professional Program and Travel Fellowship chaired by Dr. Charles Moore at the University of Texas at Austin.

He has worked at The Maxwell Museum of Anthropology in Albuquerque, S. Ghosh and Associates in New Delhi and Architectural Consultants in Mumbai

As part of S+PS Architects, Pinkish has been a recipient of several International and National awards.

Pinkish has also been invited to present their works at The Indian Institute of Interior Designers Pune, Surat,Baroda, Nashik, Aurangabad, and Ahmedabad Chapters, Indian Institute of Architects - Chennai Chapter, The Urban Design Research Institute – “Beginnings” Lecture Series by Young Architects, 12 on 12 Reloaded, Ahmedabad in Dec 2005, ThinkMatter in Goa and several other colleges and institutes across India like Pillai’s College of Architecture, New Panvel, The Sir J.J.College of Architecture, Mumbai and Encounters at the Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute of Architecture, Juhu.

Their work has been exhibited in June 2007 - “IN SITE” an Exhibition on Indian Interior Design that opened at the IFA gallery in Stuttgart and subsequently in Berlin in August 2007, Fall 2004 - Invited by the University of New Mexico, USA to exhibit work in an International Exhibition “ROOTS & TRAJECTORIES-4 Young Practices from India” from Aug-Sept 2004. The Exhibition has subsequently been displayed at The University of California at Berkeley, California, USA. Oct-Dec 2010, Chosen amongst 50 established and upcoming practices from India in the Exhibition “Design Directions” organized by IAB magazine to showcase the progress of contemporary Indian architecture over the past 25 years.  Pinkish was also the curator for a panel discussion of EMERGING PRACTICES across India at the second edition of Ace Interface 2016 - the Disruptive Innovation Conference. 

Pinkish has been involved as Visiting Design Faculty and Thesis Design Guide at the Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture and Environmental Studies, Juhu, since 2002.  He has been invited as Juror at CEPT Ahmedabad, Pillai’s College of Architecture-New Panvel, D.Y.Patil College of Architecture, Nerul, Sir J.J. College of Architecture, IES College of Architecture, BSSA NMMIS Architecture College, Juhu, Inside Outside Mega Show 2004, Birla White Yuva Ratna Awards 2009 cycle, Ultra Tech Mera Gaon Mera Base Student Competition, ACA International Student Award for Sacred Spaces 2015 and the IIA Kerala Chapter 2010 & 2012 Awards Cycles.

He is Registered Architect with the Council of Architecture , Member of the Indian Institute of Architects, Member of the Indian Institute of Interior Designers and Life Member of the Practicing Engineers, Architects & Town Planners Association -PEATA.

Jamshid Bhiwandiwalla  - Associate Professor

Graduate from the Sir JJ College of Architecture, Mumbai, further has a double Post Graduation in General Architecture and Arts (Ancient Indian Culture) from the Mumbai University. Other than specialising in Indian History, he has had a 12 year teaching experience of guiding students in technical subjects such as Building Construction and Services. Having participated earlier in various Foreign Exchnge Programmes both in France and Italy, he has as joined the Institute for the above subjects since June 2011. Further his professional expertise centres around Conservation and Restoration particularly to his numerous community amenities like Firetemples, community halls and convalescent homes in Mumbai and has also curated exhibtions for the Sir Jamshetji Jejeebhoy and Dadabhai Naoroji Memorial Museum at Navsari and the Zoroastrian Information Centre at Udvada, a Gujarat Govt. funded initiative.

Vikram Pawar  - Associate Professor

Vikram is an architect from Pillai College of Architecture, Mumbai University. As a designer, Co designer, design consultant and assistant he has worked on several projects. As a design consultant for Central Control Centre- Utility Building in Jamnagar, for Reliance, PEB structures for RGTIL (Gas pumping station), Residential Apartment at Carmichael Road, Mumbai. Presently, he is teaching at KRVIA since 2006. He is involved with subjects of construction. He is currently pursuing his Masters in Architecture from Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture.

Sonal Sundararajan - Associate Professor

Sonal Sundararajan is alumnus of KRVIA. She holds a B. Arch Degree from the University of Mumbai, 2000, and M. Arch degree in Urban Design from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, 2006. She has been teaching at the KRVIA since the year 2007. She has worked on a research and documentation project on the environment management of the geo-thermal zone of the Tansa river basin through the Research and Design Cell of the institute. She has written essays on architecture, urbanism and art that have been published in design journals. She currently teaches Architectural Design, Architectural Representation and Design Dissertation at the undergraduate level.

Kausik Mukhopadhyay - Assistant Professor

Kausik is an artist who has completed his Bachelor of Visual Arts from Rabindra Bharati University , Calcutta and MFA from Viswa Bharati University , Santiniketan, 1989. He held a Fellowship at Kanoria Centre for Art, CEPT, Ahmedabad, 1990-91 and the Fellowship of Artists 

working in India , Inlaks Foundation, 1994-95. He is teaching since 1996. His exhibited work includes \"Chairs, Assisted ready-mades at the century Cities Exhibition of the Tate Modern,

London 2001, Art on The Move for SAHMAT, New Delhi, 2001. Recent exhibitions include Diverge at NGMA, Mumbai 2004 and Age of Desire at Perth , Australia.

Minal Yerramshetty - Assistant Professor

Ms. Minal Yerramshetty holds a B.Arch. degree in Architecture from L.S. Raheja College of Architecture Mumbai, 1995. She also has an M.Arch. in Urban and Regional Planning from Rachana Sansad institute of Architecture, 2011. She has been teaching at KRVIA from 1998 to 2001 and then since 2009. Her academic interests include urban planning, policy and governance, environmental studies and systems, and allied design such as interior design and landscape design. She has worked on several projects with various architects such as Pendse Pathare and associates, P. K. Das and associates, and Solanki and associates. She also has her own practice. She currently engages in environmental studies such as Building Services and climatology, Town planning, and an interior design module at the undergraduate level and Urban byelaws  at postgraduate level.

Shweta Wagh - Assistant Professor

Shweta Wagh holds a B.Arch degree from the J.J. School of Architecture, 2000 and Masters in Urban Conservation from KRVIA, 2009. Between 2000 and 2006 she undertook several post graduate courses in ecological restoration, geomorphology, field botany, natural resource management and biodiversity conservation. She has been teaching in KRVIA since 2009. Her academic interests include, urban theory, ecology, sustainability, heritage and conservation philosophy. Some of her work include the Matheran Eco-sensitive zone, the geothermal zone in the Tansa river basin, heritage and environmental conservation guidelines for the Matheran development plan, conservation frameworks for the Kanchendzonga Sacred Landscape in Sikkim, and self development guidelines for Urban fishing villages in Mumbai. She currently engages in Humanities, Environmental Studies, Design Dissertation, Landscape and Urban design and at the undergraduate level and Urban Ecology, Landscape Theory and Design Dissertation at the postgraduate level.

Kimaya Keluskar - Assistant Professor

Kimaya Keluskar holds a B-arch degree in Architecture from Kamla Raheja Vidhyanidhi Institute for Architecture and Environmental studies (KRVIA), Mumbai, 2006. She was awarded Mumbai University gold medal for her Thesis and KRVIA gold medal for Academic excellence. She attained MSc in Environmental Design and Engineering from Bartlett School for Graduate studies, University College London in 2009. Her MSc thesis is published in Consultation on School Carbon Management plan, UCL Evidence prepared for CIBSE (Standard Institution for Building services and Engineers, 2009. She has been teaching in KRVIA since 2010. Her academic interests include in Climate responsive Architecture, Energy efficient building, social sustainability and Environmental Impacts. She is also been practicing as Environmental/Sustainability consultant for Architectural and Research projects. She has jointly co-ordinated project for Design Cell (Research cell at KRVIA) in collaboration with BMW LAB and HOLCIM Foundation for Sustainable constructions. She currently engages in Environmental studies III, Architectural Design, Building Services, Design Dissertation and Energy efficient building systems Electives at undergraduate level.

Shirish Joshi - Assistant Professor

Shirish Joshi has completed his B.Arch from CEPT University in 2005. After which he was working with Ahmedabad Heritage centre till 2007. He has a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from The City College of the City university of New York. Currently he is a full time faculty in KRVIA. His experience span across five years in Urban Conservation, Urban Sustainability and Urbanism.

Mamta Patwardhan - Assistant Professor

Mamta Patwardhan holds a B.Arch degree (First class with honours) from Sir J. J. College of Architecture, 1993, M.Arch in Project Management (Gold medalist) from Mumbai University, 2016 and has completed a certificate course on Climate Change and Urban Environment from CEPT, Ahmedabad in 2012. She has been involved in a design-charette with the renowned Plater- Zyberk for the design of Koramangala at Bangalore while working with Thadani-Hetzel Architects. She has shared her professional expertise with many architectural firms like Ratna Dharia, Ved Segan Associates, Frischmann Prabhu, Hirani Engineering, NY (handled India back office) and others and her experience involves working on landscape projects, conservation documentation, preparation of international financial and technical bids and is currently managing a residential redevelopment project. Climate change impacts, environmental risk assessment and disaster reduction constitute the areas of her recent academic focus.  She is conducting research as part of the EU funded BinUCom project that deals with assessing climate change impacts on the health of the slum inhabitants.

 She has been a faculty member at KRVIA since 2009, teaching modules on Graphics, Building Construction, Working Drawings and Professional Practice. She is also conducting an elective on environmental risk assessment in the master’s programme.


Abhijit Ekbote  - Assistant Professor

Abhijit Ekbote graduated as an architect from Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology, (C.E.P.T), Ahmedabad, India in 1999. He was then in private practice in Mumbai and worked on various projects such as film set design, school, residential apartments, and slum rehabilitation schemes. In 2006 he completed a Pg.Dip. in Sustainable Natural Resources Management and Conservation from the Ecological Society, Pune. He has worked on several conservation and adaptive reuse projects with a conservation firm in Mumbai from 2007 to 2009. He was part of the Project Team for the conservation of Chandramauleshwar Temple at Hampi, which received UNESCO Asia Pacific Award for Cultural Heritage Conservation in 2012. He completed his Masters in Urban Design from K.R.V.I.A, Mumbai in 2012. He is currently teaching Architectural Representation, Working Drawing, Design Studio (M.Arch - Urban Design) and GIS. George Jerry Jacob -  Assistant Professor

George Jacob holds a M.Arch. degree in Urban Design from Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture. He has been teaching at KRVIA since 2010. He has worked on the Dharavi redevelopment project as part of the Design Cell as well been the project co-ordinator for the public event ‘Mapping Privacy in Public Spaces’ in collaboration with the BMW Guggenheim Lab. His work has been recently published in the Project Cinema City book. He has presented papers on informal housing, everyday urbanism, peripheries and urban transformations at various national and international conferences. He currently engages with Design, Graphics and Building Technology courses.

Ginella George - Assistant Professor

Ginella George holds a M.Arch. degree in Urban Conservation from Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture, Mumbai University. She has been teaching at KRVIA since 2010. She has been interested in historic areas and their relevance, functionality and transformation in present times especially in the city of Mumbai. Through her research and academic explorations this has been a particular area of interest among larger urban concerns. Among her recent work she was part of the Cinema City project, through the Design Cell a research initiative by Majlis –which was exhibited at the National Gallery of Modern Art in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. She has presented papers at national and international conferences. She currently engages in Design, History and Conservation subjects at the Undergraduate and Masters Level.

Hussain Z Indorewala - Assistant Professor

Hussain Z Indorewala graduated as an Industrial Designer from Pune University in 2007, and holds a Masters of Science degree in Service and Systems Design from Politecnico Di Milano, Italy. He teaches interior design, research methods and social and political theory at KRVIA since 2011. He has been involved with urban research projects at the KRVIA Design Cell, writes often on urban politics, sustainability and planning and works with various community groups on issues of urban development in the city.

Nibedita Mishra  - Assistant Professor

Deepti Talpade  Assistant Professor

Deepti holds a B.Arch and M.Arch in Urban Design from Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi for Architecture(KRVIA), Mumbai and a M.Sc. in Urban Management and Development from Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies, Erasmus University, Rotterdam. She has 8 years’ experience in both academic and professional worlds with a focus on urban design and planning. Deepti has recently worked in the consultancy firm for the MCGM as a Mid-level Planner for the Development plan of Mumbai, 2014-34 and as a Project Coordinator at Institute for Sustainability, a corporate charity in London. She has also been deeply engaged in research for various organisations such as Housing Association Charity Trust, London; Collective Research Initiatives’ Trust, Mumbai and Design Cell, KRVIA emphasising on innovative housing and sustainability. She has been a reviewer for research papers for the Sustainable Human(e) Settlements conference(CSIR), South Africa. Deepti is also an Editor, Designer and Graphic Consultant for several books in the field of architecture, one such being Archiving Architectural Thesis for NIASA’.

Keya Parekh - Assistant Professor

Keya Parekh holds a B.Arch. degree from Maharaja Sayajirao University, Baroda College of Architecture, Gujarat University in 1997.  She holds an M.Arch.  degree from Rachana Sansad, Mumbai, 2015 in Urban and Regional Planning. 

She has shared her professional expertise for 7 years with many architectural firms such as Vijay Matai  at Baroda,  Kapadia Associates at Mumbai, Design Office at Mumbai. Since 2002, she has her own studio KSP Designs and her practice  involves designing and executing projects including commercial offices, residential bungalows and apartments,  hotel and resort designs  within India and in Dubai for the last 15 years.

She has 7 years of Academic experience since 2011. And has been a visiting faculty at IES for 3 years and KRVIA  for the last 5 years. Her academic interests involve technical subjects such as Graphics, Building Construction, Allied Design, Building Services at Bachelors and History of Planning at Masters at KRVIA.                                                                                                         She is a registered architect with the Council of Architecture since 1998.

Probuddha Mukhopadhyaya - Assistant Professor

Probuddha graduated with a B.Arch degree from Rzivi College of Architecture (2011) & M.Arch in Urban Design from Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi for Architecture (KRVIA), (2016) Mumbai. He was part of the KRVIA Design cell project team for Vision Juhu : Open spaces in 2008 as a summer intern. He has been instrumental behind commercial, infrastructural & interior projects of various scales across various cities in India, as a practicing architect. A Musician & Producer as well, Probuddha has his own practice in live performances. He has been teaching in KRVIA since 2016. His interests involve Humanities, Urban design, Graphics & Building Construction.

Sandhya Shuklabaidya - Assistant Professor

Shreya Sen - Assistant Professor

Shreya Sen holds a B.Arch.degree from Dr. Baliram Hiray College of Architecture, Mumbai University, 2011. She has been an awardee of Prof. J.C. Schroff Scholarship from the University of Mumbai for academic excellence in 2010.

She holds an M.Arch. degree from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, 2014 and specializes in Tensile Architecture for which she was awarded the DAAD Scholarship [German Academic Exchange Programme] in 2013 to conduct research on Lightweight Reconfigurable Architecture at ILEK [Institut für Leichtbau Entwerfen und Konstruieren], Stuttgart University, Germany. This research was recently published by Lambert Academic publishing house in 2016.

She has 4 years of Academic experience and researches on form finding in Tensile architecture. Here, hands on modelling is used as a technique of form generation and understanding load transference through testing to get intuitive understanding of structural behaviour. The findings of Experimental Lab were published in IJRCEAD Journal , Feb 2016, and won her the best paper award in Architectural Pedagogy at D.Y.Patil C.O.A. in association with Council of Architecture. She has been teaching in K.R.V.I.A. since 2016 and currently engages in Structures, Architectural Design, Building Construction and Technology courses.

Shreya also conducts workshops in Tensile Architecture in schools all over the country, some of the recent ones being at Sir JJ School of Architecture, IIT Roorkee, L.S. Raheja School of Architecture, S.N.D.T. Womens University. She is a registered architect with the Council of Architecture and member of Indian Institute of Architects.

Sarah George-Varghese has completed her M.A. in Politics from “Mumbai University”. Currently she is working with Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture as a Part time faculty for Humanities.
