Pedagogy

Sanaeya Vandrewala is a Conservation Architect working in the field for the past 14 years. She holds a Master’s degree in Conservation Studies from the University of York, UK, and a Bachelors in Architecture (First Class with Honors) from the University of Mumbai. Sanaeya has been associated with several practices in both UK and India. She is a J.N.Tata fellow and has received training for the restoration of stained glass at York Minister in the UK, with Attingham Trust related to Study of Historic Houses in the UK and ICCROM training in Management and Monitoring of World Heritage Sites. Before joining KRVIA she was an Associate Conservation Architect at Abha Narain Lambah Associates and was the project architect for various prestigious historic landmarks around the country including Raj Bhawan- Nainital, Municipal Headquarters-Mumbai, MJP (Crawford) Market-Mumbai, Grant Medical College- Mumbai, Le Corbusier’s Capitol Complex- Chandigarh. She also specializes in Management plans for heritage sites such as Mahabodhi temple at Bodhgaya, Ajanta Caves to name a few, and also World heritage nominations, the most recent being the inscription of Mumbai on the UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Sanaeya has also been a consultant for IIT Roorkee on Heritage Conservation. Sanaeya has recently joined the Editorial Board of an International Sage publication on Collections- A journal for Museum and Archives Professionals. She is an ICOMOS member and part of the ICOMOS India- National Scientific Committee on Risk Preparedness and 20th Century Modern and also a founding member for DOCOMOMO India chapter and currently working on an inventory of modern heritage in Mumbai.
